چکیده

One of the unique traffic features of low earth orbit (LEO) satellite networks is time-variant and nonuniform load distribution. This feature results in a locally biased congestion problem for the LEO satellite systems. In this paper, we propose a traJjcic load balancing scheme to resolve the congestion problem in such traffic scenarios. The proposing scheme makes use of near-neighbor residual bandwidth information to apportion excess bandwidth f rom congested satellites to their underloaded neighbors in the network. Each traffic load balancing process is performed on the domain basis. When the residual bandwidth of the path by way of the target satellite is less than a prespecifed amount, calls routed over the path can be migrated to the alternative paths of the same balancing domain. By decreasing the size of the network graph being considered in load balancing process, balancing domains reduce the complexity of the process.

Load Balancing Routing Based on Agent for Polar-orbit LEO Satellite Networks ⋆

A novel load balancing routing scheme is proposed for Polar-orbit Low Earth Orbit satellite networks. This scheme employs mobile agents to gather related routing information by migrating autonomously. And, stationary agents estimate Inter-satellite Link (ISL) cost, routing path cost and update routing items on satellites. In the proposed scheme, ISL queueing delay is estimated using M/M/1 queue...

A Load-Balanced On-Demand Routing for LEO Satellite Networks

Due to population distribution and economic flourish diversity, the low earth orbit (LEO) satellite network carries unbalanced traffic load, which leads that parts of satellite links are congested while others are underutilized. Furthermore, the congested inter-satellite links result in high queuing delay and packet dropping ratio. To ensure an intelligent scheduling of traffic over entire sate...

Satellite constellation networks for aeronautical communication: traffic modelling and link load analysis

The authors examine two different non-geostationary satellite constellation networks with intersatellite links for global air traffic control and air passenger communication. After developing a traffic model for aeronautical communication services, the authors derive bandwidth requirements for such a global system. The influence of different routing policies is discussed and they show that link...

Distributed Traffic Balancing Routing for LEO Satellite Networks

Satellite networks have been widely investigated both in the business and academia for many years, with many important routing algorithms reported in the literatures. However, fewer existing routing algorithms focus on the trade-off between the routing survivability and the routing computation and storage overheads. Due to topological dynamics, it is difficult to effectively apply the conventio...

A predictive QoS routing scheme for broadband low Earth orbit satellite networks

Low Earth Orbit Satellite Networks can augment terrestrial wireless networks to provide global broadband services to users regardless of the users’ locations. Delivering QoS guarantees to the users of LEO satellite networks is complicated since footprints of LEO satellites move as the satellites traverse their orbits, and thus, causing frequent user handovers between the satellites. Traffic on ...
